Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer | Singapore

Our client, a global biotechnology research company , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to join its engineering team in Singapore.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge genetic analysis and life sciences instrumentation, working alongside multidisciplinary teams across Singapore and the United States.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded firmware in C/C++ for advanced scientific instruments incorporating optics, fluidics, motion control systems, and imaging technologies

• Develop firmware drivers, modules, and system integrations from concept through manufacturing release

• Collaborate closely with Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineering teams to develop, integrate, and debug embedded systems

• Ensure project deliverables are completed according to development schedules

• Apply best practices in firmware architecture, coding standards, testing, debugging, and documentation

Requirements

✔ Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline

✔ Minimum 5 years of experience in embedded firmware development with hardware integration experience

✔ Strong expertise in C/C++ programming

✔ Solid understanding of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), task scheduling, and synchronization concepts

✔ Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and component datasheets

✔ Experience implementing cybersecurity features in embedded systems

✔ Excellent communication and collaboration skills

✔ Willingness to travel to the United States for training and collaboration with global engineering teams

Preferred Experience

• Full product lifecycle development experience from concept through manufacturing

• ARM-based processors and embedded microcontroller architectures

• RTOS platforms such as FreeRTOS, ThreadX, VxWorks, or QNX

• Hardware interfaces including Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, ADC/DAC, motors, and image sensors

• TCP/IP networking and embedded network application development

• Git version control and modern software development practices

• Embedded debugging tools such as J-Link, Lauterbach, and trace analyzers

• Linux development environment

• Experience with GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools

• FPGA development, RTL coding, MATLAB, Python, Verilog, VHDL, or Xilinx Vivado experience would be an advantage
