Job Description

Our client is an innovative, venture-backed technology company transforming the consumer health and wellness space through connected hardware and intelligent software. Their flagship product combines embedded systems, sensors, cloud connectivity, and data-driven insights to improve users' everyday lives. Recognized for its innovation and rapid growth, the company has built a global customer base and continues to push the boundaries of smart, connected devices.

They are seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join a small, highly collaborative engineering team responsible for developing the firmware that powers current and next-generation connected products. This is a highly hands-on role where you'll work closely with hardware engineers from early prototyping through production, owning critical firmware components that directly impact customers. The environment is fast-paced, highly autonomous, and ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges close to the hardware.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware in C/C++ for production hardware.
  • Bring up new hardware platforms and integrate emerging sensor technologies into commercial products.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical and hardware engineering teams throughout prototype, validation, and production phases.
  • Develop low-level drivers and communication interfaces including UART, SPI, I2C, USB, and DMA.
  • Improve firmware development processes by building modern testing, deployment, and automation tooling using Python or Node.js.
  • Support large-scale deployed devices through telemetry analysis, diagnostics, and over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates.
  • Partner with global manufacturing teams to develop production test solutions and ensure high-quality product launches.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and firmware interactions using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, schematics, and datasheets.
  • Help define firmware architecture, engineering standards, and best practices for future product development.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
  • Experience developing software for memory-constrained, resource-limited embedded environments.
  • Hands-on experience developing peripheral drivers and communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, USB, and DMA.
  • Experience supporting commercial hardware products through deployment, monitoring, and OTA firmware updates.
  • Ability to perform hardware bring-up and debug using schematics, datasheets, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Experience developing automation or test tooling using Python or Node.js.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and product teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bare metal firmware development or minimal RTOS environments.
  • Experience with Bluetooth, BLE, Wi-Fi, or other wireless communication technologies. Embedded security experience, including secure boot, encryption, or secure firmware update mechanisms.
  • Automated testing, CI/CD, and firmware observability experience.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or working with global hardware production teams.
  • Experience developing firmware for consumer electronics, IoT devices, wearables, robotics, medical devices, or other connected products.
