Senior FPGA & SDR Communications Engineer
.
Arke Telekom
, is an innovative defense technology company developing next-generation communication systems for tactical UAVs. By combining FPGA-based Software Defined Radio (SDR) platforms with fast frequency hopping (FHSS), cognitive radio technologies, and secure mesh networking, the company is creating resilient, GNSS-independent communication solutions designed for the future of autonomous and mission-critical operations.
We are looking for a
Senior FPGA & SDR Communications Engineer
to join our client's engineering team in Ankara. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, integration, and validation of FPGA-based digital communication systems for next-generation tactical wireless networks.
Working across hardware, FPGA, RF, and digital signal processing, you will play an active role throughout the entire product lifecycle—from algorithm development and hardware implementation to system integration and field testing.
Key Responsibilities:
FPGA & Digital Signal Processing
-
Design and develop FPGA-based digital signal processing cores for SDR waveform platforms using VHDL/SystemVerilog.
-
Implement and optimize physical-layer waveform algorithms including Fast Frequency Hopping (FFH), DSSS/FHSS, OFDM, and PSK/QAM modulation schemes.
-
Develop modem functions including timing recovery, carrier synchronization, FEC (LDPC, convolutional codes), and channel estimation.
RF & Hardware Integration
-
Integrate high-speed ADCs/DACs (such as AD9361/AD9364 RF transceivers) and manage multi-clock domains.
-
Support modem board, RF board, and SDR module integration on Xilinx/AMD Zynq or equivalent SoC platforms.
-
Integrate FPGA designs with analog RF front-end systems.
Wireless Communications & Networking
-
Contribute to MANET layer development, including mesh routing protocols, multi-hop scheduling, and distributed timing synchronization.
-
Apply cognitive radio techniques, adaptive filtering, spectrum sensing, and interference mitigation methods.
System Validation & Collaboration
-
Design and execute Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), captive-carry UAV integration, and field validation tests.
-
Collaborate closely with RF, software, and systems engineering teams.
-
Contribute to technical documentation, certification activities, product demonstrations, and OEM engagements.
Qualifications:
Required
-
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
-
5+ years of experience in FPGA or embedded system development using VHDL/HDL.
-
3+ years of experience in wireless communications, tactical radio systems, or the defense industry.
-
Strong proficiency in VHDL or SystemVerilog.
-
Experience with Xilinx/AMD development tools (Vivado, Vitis, HLS).
-
Solid understanding of SDR architectures, RF systems, ADC/DAC integration, clock domain crossing, and AXI bus architecture.
-
Hands-on experience with modulation, synchronization, channel coding, equalization, and other physical-layer communication algorithms.
-
Familiarity with MANET protocols, mesh networking, or tactical waveform standards.
-
Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
-
Turkish citizenship and eligibility to work within a NATO-cleared facility in Ankara.
Preferred
-
Experience integrating AD9361/AD9364 or similar RF transceivers.
-
Experience with BER/EVM automated test frameworks.
-
Knowledge of GNU Radio, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent waveform development tools.
-
Experience with FreeRTOS or bare-metal embedded development on Zynq/ARM platforms.
-
Familiarity with DO-254 or equivalent FPGA verification standards.
-
Previous experience within companies such as ASELSAN, METEKSAN, ROKETSAN, or similar defense organizations.
-
Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain NATO-level clearance.
