Senior Embedded Software Test Engineer

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience analyzing requirements and creating detailed test cases, test plans, and test protocols.
  • 2+ years of experience performing manual and automated testing of embedded systems, including hardware, software, and firmware, and documenting test results.
  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting defects, performing root cause analysis, and verifying corrective actions.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using command-line tools.
  • Working knowledge of C++ and/or C#.
  • Experience testing FDA-regulated products.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including 510(k) submissions.


Job Summary

As a Senior Embedded Software Test Engineer , you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive test plans and test strategies for embedded software, firmware, and hardware-integrated products.

This role requires a strong understanding of system-level verification, including analyzing requirements, creating detailed test cases, defining test protocols, executing manual and automated tests, documenting results, and troubleshooting defects through root cause analysis.

You will utilize command-line tools, log files, physical probing, and other electrical or mechanical testing methods as needed to validate product performance, ensure product quality, and minimize defects.

Additionally, you will prepare clear and accurate test reports summarizing execution results, defects, trends, corrective actions, and verification outcomes for cross-functional reviews and regulatory submission support. You will work closely with engineering, quality, and project teams to coordinate testing activities, communicate timelines and results, and continuously improve test methodologies and overall product quality.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze system and software requirements to develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test protocols.
  • Execute manual and automated testing for embedded software, firmware, and hardware-integrated systems.
  • Document test execution results, observations, and defects with accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform root cause analysis of identified issues and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Utilize command-line tools, log analysis, physical probing, and electrical/mechanical testing techniques to validate system functionality.
  • Prepare detailed test reports summarizing execution status, defects, trends, corrective actions, and verification results.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and project teams to ensure alignment on testing objectives, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Support continuous improvement of testing processes, methodologies, and product quality.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant embedded software testing experience.
