About the Role

Pixels On Target is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our engineering team in Sunrise, FL. In this role, you will design and develop embedded software for advanced thermal optic products used in demanding, mission-critical environments. You’ll work hands-on with embedded Linux systems, camera and video pipelines, and low-level hardware integration to deliver high-performance, power-efficient solutions.

This is a full-time, on-site position with a strong hands-on focus, collaborating closely with hardware, systems, and product teams to push the limits of performance and reliability.

Note: U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required due to the nature of our work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for advanced thermal optic and imaging systems
  • Implement and optimize camera and video pipelines , including device drivers and streaming performance
  • Develop and integrate Linux-based embedded systems , including BSPs, bootloaders, and board bring-up
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to integrate hardware and software
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex system-level issues involving hardware, drivers, and applications
  • Optimize systems for performance, latency, power consumption, and reliability
  • Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, and technical best practices
  • Support integration of AI/ML workloads on embedded platforms where applicable

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably in real-time or mission-critical systems
  • Strong experience with Embedded Linux (Yocto and/or Buildroot) and/or RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr)
  • Hands-on experience with device driver development , kernel-level programming, and hardware interfacing
  • Proficiency in C and C++ ; working knowledge of Python
  • Experience with board bring-up , BSP development, and bootloaders
  • Familiarity with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, and Ethernet integration
  • Strong hardware debugging skills using JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Linux V4L2 , camera control, and video streaming optimization
  • Knowledge of ISP pipelines , camera tuning, and image quality troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with GStreamer or similar multimedia frameworks
  • Experience with low-power optimization techniques (DVFS, power profiling)
  • Exposure to secure boot, OTA updates, and embedded security best practices
  • Experience integrating or optimizing AI/ML workloads on embedded processors or NPUs

Technical Skills

  • Programming: C, C++, Python; familiarity with ARM architecture
  • Communication Protocols: I²C, SPI/eSPI, UART, PCIe, I²S
  • Imaging & Video: V4L2, ISP tuning, low-latency video pipelines
  • Build & Tooling: GCC, CMake, Yocto, Buildroot
  • Debugging: GDB, JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, USB
