Job Description


  • Job Title: Embedded Software Tools Engineer
  • Job Type: 12 month contract with possible extension
  • Work Location/ Arrangement: Cary , NC (Onsite)


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of tools and scripts to improve efficiency and user experience for an OpenRTOS-based embedded software development environment.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain software tools used by embedded software engineers.
  • Provide daily technical support to internal users and collaborate with external stakeholders.
  • Lead innovation initiatives to define and improve the next generation of embedded software development tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to streamline development workflows and improve engineering productivity.
  • Contribute throughout the embedded software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through implementation, testing, and machine validation.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and recommend software tool improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for embedded software development processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C#, C++, or Java .
  • Strong expertise in C programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) .
  • Solid understanding of the embedded software development lifecycle, including requirements, implementation, testing, and machine validation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GNU Make .
  • Python scripting experience.
  • Knowledge of CAN (Controller Area Network) and UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services) .
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
  • Master's degree or other advanced degree in Computer Science or an Engineering discipline.
