About the Role

We’re seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer to play a key role in the development, improvement, and lifecycle management of our high-reliability industrial and aerospace products.

This is an opportunity to shape the future of our condition monitoring solutions, combining technical excellence, product ownership, and commercial awareness to deliver world-class outcomes for our customers.

As a senior member of the engineering team, you will lead the design and development of electronic hardware solutions from concept through to production, ensuring products meet demanding performance, safety, reliability, and cost objectives. You will work closely with systems, software, manufacturing, and commercial teams to deliver innovative products whilst continuously improving existing designs.

Key responsibilities include:

Product Leadership & Ownership

  • Act as the technical lead for assigned hardware products and developments throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Translate customer, regulatory, and business requirements into robust hardware architectures and designs.
  • Support customer proposal development, providing technical expertise and practical engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product delivery and ongoing product support.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.

Electronics Design & Innovation

  • Lead the design, development, verification, and qualification of analogue, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronic systems.
  • Develop product architectures and hardware solutions that meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
  • Produce schematic designs, PCB layouts, design documentation, and technical reports.
  • Support EMC, environmental, and product certification activities including CE, UKCA, FCC, DO-160, and MIL-STD compliance.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies that can enhance product capability and competitive advantage

Product Cost Optimisation & Value Engineering

  • Lead value engineering activities to improve product cost, manufacturability, reliability, and supply chain resilience.
  • Review existing product designs and identify opportunities to reduce material, manufacturing, and lifecycle costs without compromising performance or quality.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain and Production teams to optimise designs for assembly and production efficiency.
  • Evaluate alternative components, technologies, and suppliers to reduce product cost and mitigate obsolescence risks.
  • Support Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT) initiatives across the product portfolio.
  • Contribute to product standardisation and component rationalisation activities to improve efficiency across the business.

Delivery & Project Leadership

  • Plan and manage technical activities to achieve project milestones, budgets, and delivery commitments.
  • Provide technical oversight throughout development programmes, ensuring risks are identified and managed effectively.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Leadership Team to ensure project and business objectives are achieved.

Stakeholder & Customer Engagement

  • Engage directly with customers to understand technical requirements and provide expert guidance.
  • Support technical reviews, demonstrations, presentations, and design discussions.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor, helping customers identify solutions that meet their operational and commercial needs.
  • Support occasional UK and international travel where required.

Professional Growth

  • Maintain and record Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities.
  • Remain up to date with developments in electronics engineering, condition monitoring, and relevant industry standards.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, safety, quality, and engineering excellence.
  • Be highly motivated toward delivering products and services that exceed customer expectations.

About you

You are an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer with a strong track record of developing complex electronic products within manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, defence, or other high-reliability environments. You combine deep technical expertise with a practical, solutions-focused approach and enjoy taking products from concept through to production.

You possess detailed knowledge across a range of electronics disciplines, including digital, analogue, and power electronics, PCB schematic capture and layout, microcontroller and DSP-based systems, and the design of products that meet demanding safety, reliability, manufacturability, and environmental requirements. You are comfortable working throughout the full product development lifecycle and have experience qualifying and certifying products to relevant EMC and environmental standards such as CE/UKCA, FCC, RoHS, REACH, DO-160, and MIL-STD-461/810.

You understand the importance of balancing technical excellence with commercial objectives and have experience identifying opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturability, and cost. Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and value engineering principles would be highly advantageous.

You are comfortable communicating with customers, suppliers, and colleagues at all levels, translating complex technical challenges into practical engineering solutions. Experience working within highly regulated or safety-critical industries such as aerospace, defence, or industrial safety systems would be advantageous.

Qualified to degree level in Electronic Engineering, or with equivalent industry experience, you are proactive, self-motivated, and passionate about engineering. You enjoy mentoring others, driving continuous improvement, and delivering innovative, high-quality products that exceed customer expectations and create real value for the business and its customers.
