Position Summary
Responsible for the selection, qualification, application, failure analysis and documentation management of components, materials and chemicals together with their supplier evaluation.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Classify, characterize, and manage company-used electronic components, parts, materials, and chemicals as part of an integrated material library.

Develop component and material selection, qualification, and application guidelines; standardize test methods; and design test plates for common screening and qualification activities.

Provide technical support on material and component related topics, including datasheet interpretation, alternate part recommendations, application guidance, failure analysis, storage, and handling requirements.

Support cost reduction initiatives and alternative component sourcing, and address engineering queries (EQ) from suppliers to ensure quality, performance and compliance requirements are met.

Evaluate emerging technologies, industry developments, and new components, and identify suitable application opportunities for new product development.

Review product designs to ensure robust and reliable design-in of components and materials both technically and commercially such as lifecycle state, regulation & compliance requirements (e.g. RoHS, REACH, UL, etc.) and supply assurance.

Lead the root cause analysis of component failures, identify the failure mechanism, and derive countermeasures

Identify critical and high-risk components within products, develop mitigation plans, and lead reliability and quality validation activities.

Assess supplier technical capabilities, support supplier selection for key components, and conduct supplier audits or technical visits when required.

Standardize various technical documents (test plan, reports, guidelines, etc.), craft documentation templates, and optimize the corresponding rules and processes.
Qualifications

Degree or above in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum 5 years of experience in the design, sustaining, testing, qualification, or application of electronic/electrical components and products.

Strong knowledge of electronic components, including operating principles, equivalent models, electrical characteristics, application considerations, and practical limitations, particularly in power electronics applications.

Good understanding of component construction, including physical structures, package types, classifications, naming conventions, materials, fabrication processes, and packaging technologies.

Experienced in electronic component application engineering, with the ability to interpret schematics and circuits, analyze component functions, and assess electrical stresses and derating.

Proven experience in component qualification, testing, failure analysis, troubleshooting, and reliability assessment.

Conversant with ECAD software (Altium Designer, KiCad) for schematic and PCB layout review, with proficiency in electrical technical documentation and engineering standards.

Experienced in engineering change management processes, including ECO/ECN implementation and cross-functional coordination.

Good understanding of BOM management, document control systems, and PLM/ERP platforms such as SAP and Oracle.

Familiar with component lifecycle management, obsolescence monitoring, alternate part qualification, and supplier technical engagement.

Proficient in English; proficiency in Chinese or Vietnamese is an added advantage.

Experience in thermal management and environmental testing is a plus.

Experience in project management, quality and reliability control, supplier collaboration, and cross-functional teamwork with electrical, quality, sourcing, and manufacturing teams is desirable.

Familiar with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
