Job Description

GBL Systems Corporation is a leading systems engineering and software development firm with a 30+ year history of providing technical support to the U.S. Government in the areas of Avionics / Armament Systems, Electronic Warfare, Network Centric Warfare and Modeling & Simulation. GBL is based in Camarillo, CA and currently is seeking an experienced Cyber Risk Manager.

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – DSP / FPGA to lead real-time signal-processing implementation for advanced radios, wireless communications, and radar systems. This role will own the translation of high-level algorithms into robust FPGA and SoC architectures that perform on real hardware in real environments.

This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who is equally comfortable with signal-processing theory, digital hardware implementation, and lab-based integration.

Ideal Candidate: You know how to bridge theory and reality. You can take a signal-processing concept, map it into practical hardware, and stay with it until it works in the lab and in the integrated system.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement DSP architectures for communications, radar, EW, and related sensing systems
  • Translate MATLAB, Python, or model-based algorithms into FPGA-ready implementations
  • Design, implement, simulate, verify, and optimize FPGA solutions using modern toolchains
  • Own aspects of real-time digital pipelines such as filtering, channelization, timing/synchronization, pulse processing, waveform handling, beamforming support, detection support, and data movement
  • Define interfaces among FPGA, processors, ADCs, DACs, memory, and networking subsystems
  • Support timing closure, verification, hardware bring-up, and system integration
  • Develop test benches, verification strategies, automation, and debug workflows
  • Work closely with RF, hardware, and software teams to ensure end-to-end system performance
  • Mentor junior engineers and help shape digital architecture strategy

Required Qualifications:

•                BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field

•                7+ years of relevant experience in DSP, FPGA, or digital hardware development for radar, wireless communications, EW, test and evaluation, or other real-time embedded systems

•                Strong experience with VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog

•                Strong experience with AMD/Xilinx, Intel, or equivalent FPGA platforms and toolchains

•                Strong foundation in digital signal processing, fixed-point implementation, and hardware-oriented algorithm development

•                Experience with simulation, verification, and lab integration of FPGA-based systems

•                Experience working on cross-functional hardware/software teams

•                Active Security Clearance with ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI eligibility

•                Must be a U.S. Citizen. NO EXCEPTIONS

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with radar receivers, exciters, communication modems, EW digital receivers, or high-rate sensing systems
  • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, HLS, UVM, or HDL Coder
  • Experience with embedded processors, ARM SoCs, PCIe, Ethernet, or high-speed digital interfaces
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or test automation

Benefits:

•         Competitive salary

•         Outstanding 401(k) retirement plan with both Traditional and Roth options and generous corporate contributing

•         Group medical insurance
