Senior Controls / Embedded Software Engineer
to join an innovative engineering team developing next-generation electrified systems for commercial and defense applications.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies including
Battery Management Systems (BMS), high-voltage power distribution, electric propulsion, embedded control systems, and advanced energy storage solutions.

Position Overview
This role combines
control system development, embedded software integration, simulation, and validation
for advanced electrified vehicle and energy systems.
You will contribute to systems such as:

Battery Management Systems (BMS)

High-voltage distribution and protection systems

Electric propulsion systems

Power electronics controls
-
Vehicle and subsystem diagnostics
You will play a key role in developing simulation models and production-ready control software while supporting prototype development, hardware integration, laboratory testing, and full system validation.
This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy both software development and hands-on engineering in laboratory and vehicle environments.
Key Responsibilities
Controls & Model-Based Development
-
Develop and validate control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow
-
Apply Model-Based Design (MBD) workflows
-
Utilize Embedded Coder and Simulink Coder for auto-code generation
-
Integrate data-driven or machine learning-based control methods where applicable
-
Design control strategies for:
-
Battery thermal management
-
Battery state estimation (SOC/SOH)
-
Power electronics
-
Inverter controls
-
Vehicle energy management
-
Support transition from simulation models to production ECU software
-
Optimize control algorithms for efficiency, performance, and system reliability
-
Improve controller robustness through calibration and continuous testing
Embedded Software & Integration
-
Develop and support embedded C/C++ software for ECU and PCB-based systems
-
Interface with microcontrollers including:
-
Infineon
-
NXP
-
Texas Instruments
-
Integrate software with hardware platforms
-
Support hardware bring-up and debugging
-
Work with communication protocols including:

CAN
-
CAN FD
-
UDS Diagnostics

SPI

I2C

UART

Troubleshoot software and hardware integration issues

Support firmware updates and embedded software releases
Testing, Validation & Lab Development
-
Develop and execute SIL, MIL, HIL, and vehicle-level testing
-
Design and maintain laboratory bench setups
-
Configure:

Power supplies

Electronic loads

DAQ systems

Instrumentation
-
Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments

Utilize:

NI LabVIEW

Perform data collection, debugging, analysis, and model correlation

Support root-cause investigations through structured testing

Validate system performance against design requirements
Production & End-of-Line Support

Develop End-of-Line (EOL) testing processes

Create automated diagnostics and test sequences

Support manufacturing teams during production launch
-
Improve production robustness and repeatability
-
Assist with production troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives
Systems Engineering & Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Contribute to overall hardware/software system architecture
-
Capture and refine software requirements
-
Maintain requirements traceability
-
Participate in DFMEA activities
-
Conduct design reviews
-
Support root cause investigations
-
Prepare engineering documentation aligned with:

ASPICE
-
ISO 26262 principles
-
Collaborate with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, and multidisciplinary engineering teams

Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
-
Participate in design verification and product release activities
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
-
Electrical Engineering
-
Controls Engineering
-
Computer Engineering
-
Embedded Systems
-
Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (Controls Focus)

5–10+ years of professional experience in controls engineering and/or embedded software development
-
Strong experience with:

MATLAB/Simulink

Model-Based Development (MBD)

Control algorithm development

Embedded real-time systems
-
CAN communication
-
Experience with:

Hardware/software debugging

Laboratory testing
