Job Description

SLAM Robotics Engineer Jobs (Remote, US)

Rex.zone is hiring SLAM Robotics Engineers to build, optimize, and validate real-time localization and mapping systems for autonomous robots. You will fuse LiDAR, camera, IMU, wheel odometry, and GPS; improve pose estimation accuracy; and deliver robust SLAM outputs used by navigation stacks in production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own SLAM workflows including sensor calibration, time synchronization, and multi-sensor fusion
  • Build and tune visual SLAM and LiDAR SLAM pipelines (scan matching, VIO, pose graphs)
  • Implement state estimation (EKF/UKF), factor graph optimization, and loop closure strategies
  • Improve mapping, relocalization, and drift mitigation over long trajectories
  • Integrate SLAM outputs with navigation stack components (odometry, costmaps, planners)
  • Create evaluation suites using rosbag playback, simulation, and ground-truth benchmarking (ATE/RPE)
  • Debug field failures using logs, metrics, and reproducible test cases
  • Write production-grade robotics software with profiling, CI, and testing

Required Qualifications

  • Mid-Senior experience delivering SLAM/localization systems for robots
  • Strong C++ and practical Python for tooling and evaluation
  • Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 and tf transforms
  • Strong fundamentals in estimation, probability, optimization, and geometry
  • Experience with at least one: visual-inertial odometry, scan matching/ICP, pose graphs, factor graphs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience shipping autonomy on AMRs, drones, or field robotics
  • Familiarity with OpenCV, PCL, Eigen, and optimization libraries (e.g., GTSAM/Ceres)
  • Simulation experience (Gazebo, Isaac Sim) and dataset-driven validation

Compensation

Competitive hourly base pay: $30–$50/hour (USD), depending on experience.
