🤖 Robot Software Engineer (ROS2 / C++)

📍 Wixom, MI | On-Site

Are you passionate about robotics software and solving complex automation challenges? We're looking for a Robot Software Engineer to join a highly collaborative engineering team developing advanced robotic systems used in industrial automation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building software from the ground up and seeing it come to life on real robotic platforms.

What You'll Do

  • Develop robotic software applications using ROS/ROS2
  • Design and implement motion planning, path planning, and trajectory generation algorithms
  • Develop high-performance software in C++
  • Integrate software with industrial robots, sensors, vision systems, and automation equipment
  • Optimize robot performance for speed, accuracy, and reliability
  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, and system integration challenges
  • Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and systems engineers throughout the product lifecycle
  • Support testing, commissioning, and deployment of robotic systems
  • Participate in software architecture, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Strong proficiency in C++
  • Hands-on experience developing applications using ROS and/or ROS2
  • Experience with motion planning frameworks such as MoveIt , OMPL, or similar
  • Solid understanding of robot kinematics, dynamics, coordinate transformations, and control systems
  • Experience developing software in Linux environments
  • Familiarity with Git and modern software development practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating machine vision systems (OpenCV, 3D vision, depth cameras, etc.)
  • Industrial robot programming experience (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Universal Robots, Yaskawa, or similar)
  • PLC programming or integration experience is a plus (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.)
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, or PROFINET
  • Python programming experience
  • Experience with simulation tools such as Gazebo, RViz, or Isaac Sim
  • Experience working in industrial automation or manufacturing environments
