Job Description

Robotics Engineer (Montevideo) — Remote (US)

Join Rex.zone to design, implement, and validate robot capabilities for autonomous systems in a remote, full-time role. You will improve navigation and manipulation performance through simulation, on-robot testing, and data-driven iteration, and may contribute to AI/ML training and evaluation workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain ROS2 nodes, services, and message pipelines for robotic behaviors
  • Implement localization and mapping using SLAM and sensor fusion
  • Develop motion planning and control modules; tune controllers (PID/MPC concepts) for stability
  • Integrate cameras, LiDAR, IMU, and wheel odometry with calibration and timestamping
  • Create simulation-based test plans (e.g., Gazebo) and automate regression testing
  • Define QA metrics (success rate, collision rate, drift, latency) and drive performance improvement
  • Diagnose field issues using logs/telemetry; reproduce failures and ship fixes with documentation
  • Support safety validation, edge-case testing, and reliability engineering

Required Qualifications

  • Mid-Senior experience shipping robotics software/autonomy features
  • Strong Python and C++ skills
  • Hands-on ROS/ROS2 experience (launch, TF, nav stacks, bagging, diagnostics)
  • Understanding of kinematics, control fundamentals, and motion planning
  • Experience with computer vision/perception and sensor fusion
  • Strong testing discipline (simulation + unit/integration tests + QA evaluation)

Tools & Workflows

ROS2, Python, C++, Linux, Git-based CI/CD, Gazebo simulation, logging/telemetry, test automation, and structured QA evaluation.

Pay range: $30–$50 per hour.
