Job Purpose
To develop, program, integrate, and optimize robotic welding systems for fabrication operations, ensuring high productivity, superior weld quality, equipment reliability, and continuous process improvement while supporting manufacturing excellence and operational efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
1. Robot Programming & System Integration
-
Develop, modify, and implement online and offline robot programs for KUKA robotic welding systems.

Integrate robotic arms with PLCs, sensors, vision systems, and peripheral equipment.

Commission robotic welding cells and support new automation projects.
2. Welding Process Optimization
-
Define and optimize welding parameters including voltage, current, travel speed, wire feed, and shielding gas.

Improve welding efficiency, reduce cycle time, and maximize equipment utilization.

Continuously monitor and optimize robotic welding performance.
3. Quality Assurance
-
Ensure robotic welds comply with applicable quality standards and codes such as ASME, AWS, and ISO.

Perform root cause analysis for welding defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Support quality improvement initiatives to enhance weld consistency and structural integrity.
4. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Diagnose and resolve robotic hardware, software, electrical, and mechanical issues.

Develop preventive maintenance practices and equipment repair standards.

Establish spare parts inventory and maintenance procedures to minimize downtime.
5. Tooling & Fixture Development

Collaborate with Manufacturing, Design, and Tooling teams to develop welding fixtures and improve part fit-up.

Support implementation of new tooling and automation solutions for improved productivity.
6. Continuous Improvement
-
Lead and execute projects focused on cost reduction, productivity improvement, safety, ergonomics, standardization, and quality enhancement.

Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across fabrication operations.

Facilitate production teams in implementing process improvement activities.
7. Problem Solving & QRCI
-
Support the QRCI (Quick Response Continuous Improvement) process.

Lead root cause investigations and implement immediate containment as well as permanent corrective actions.

Ensure effective documentation and follow-up of improvement actions.
Required Qualifications
Education
-
Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience
-
5–10 years of hands-on experience in industrial robotic welding applications within fabrication, heavy engineering, automotive, process equipment, or similar manufacturing industries.
Required Technical Skills

Hands-on experience in programming KUKA robotic welding systems.

Strong knowledge of robotic welding processes including GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG).

Sound understanding of welding metallurgy and welding parameters.
-
Knowledge of PLC integration, industrial sensors, and vision systems.
-
Experience with offline programming and robot simulation software such as RoboDK or Process Simulate.

Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
-
Knowledge of welding quality standards including ASME, AWS, and ISO.
-
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills.
