Robotics Engineer (Remote, Full-Time)
Rex.zone connects robotics engineers with distributed teams building and deploying production robotics systems across perception, control, and autonomy. You will design, implement, and validate ROS2-based software that runs in simulation and on real hardware.
About The Role
As a Robotics Engineer, you will build ROS2 nodes, integrate sensors (cameras, IMUs, LiDAR), implement motion planning and control loops, and maintain robust interfaces to embedded systems. Your work spans algorithm development, integration testing, and performance tuning to improve navigation accuracy, manipulation reliability, and robot uptime.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain ROS2 robotics software including perception pipelines, state estimation, SLAM, and planning components

Implement control systems, trajectory generation, and safety constraints for autonomous behavior

Integrate and calibrate sensors; improve sensor fusion and SLAM performance; analyze logs for failure modes

Build simulation scenarios (e.g., Gazebo) for regression testing and tooling for repeatable experiments

Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and QA teams to validate end-to-end robot behavior
Required Qualifications

Mid-Senior experience shipping robotics features in production or advanced prototypes

Strong C++ and Python skills; hands-on ROS/ROS2 experience

Practical knowledge of motion planning, kinematics, control theory, and state estimation

Experience with computer vision, sensor fusion, SLAM, and debugging distributed robotic systems

Ability to design tests, interpret telemetry/bag files, and drive reliability improvements via root-cause analysis
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Nav2, MoveIt, behavior trees, and real-time constraints

Familiarity with embedded Linux, hardware interfaces, CAN/serial communication, and calibration workflows

Safety practices for autonomous systems, fail-safe design, and field testing

Edge deployment and latency optimization for perception and planning
Workflow & Collaboration
Workflows include ROS2 workspaces, unit/integration tests, simulation validation, and controlled hardware testing. Use telemetry, bag files, and tools like RViz to diagnose issues and measure metrics such as localization accuracy, planning success rate, obstacle avoidance reliability, control stability, uptime, and latency.
