Robotics Engineer (Remote, Full-Time)
Rex.zone connects Mid-Senior engineers with remote, full-time robotics engineering work building autonomous systems and production-grade robotic platforms. You will design, build, and deploy robotics software spanning perception, SLAM/localization, sensor fusion, motion planning, controls, and real-world deployment workflows—from simulation and algorithm development to hardware integration, field testing, and reliability engineering.
What You Will Do
-
Develop and maintain ROS/ROS2 nodes for perception, planning, and control across distributed robot compute
-
Implement and tune localization and mapping stacks (visual/LiDAR-inertial SLAM), including calibration and time synchronization
-
Build motion planning and trajectory optimization solutions for dynamic environments; improve obstacle avoidance and navigation reliability
-
Integrate sensors (stereo/RGB-D cameras, LiDAR, IMU, wheel encoders, GPS/RTK) and validate data quality and latency budgets
-
Write performance-focused C++ and rapid-iteration Python tools; profile CPU/GPU usage and optimize for real-time constraints
-
Create simulation scenarios (Gazebo/Ignition or equivalent) and use them for regression tests, safety checks, and scenario coverage
-
Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and product teams to bring features from prototype to production deployment
-
Support field testing, triage logs/telemetry, root-cause failures, and deliver measurable robot performance improvement
Required Qualifications
-
Mid-Senior experience in robotics engineering or autonomous systems shipping robotics/mechatronics products
-
Strong C++ and Linux development skills; ability to build, debug, and optimize complex real-time systems
-
Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2, TF frames, bagging/telemetry, and distributed robotics architectures
-
Foundations in kinematics, state estimation, sensor fusion, control systems, and motion planning
-
Experience integrating and validating sensors (camera/LiDAR/IMU) including calibration and timing alignment
-
Comfort with Git, code review, CI pipelines, and reliability/safety engineering best practices
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with SLAM frameworks (e.g., Cartographer, ORB-SLAM, LIO-SAM) and navigation stacks (Nav2)
-
Background in computer vision, deep learning for perception, or probabilistic robotics (EKF/UKF/particle filters)
-
Embedded systems exposure (MCUs, CAN, serial protocols) and firmware/autonomy interface work
Compensation
-
Hourly base pay range: $30–$50 per hour (USD)
-
Remote, full-time role; compensation may vary by experience and scope
