Job Description

We are looking for a Robotics Engineer Intern to help build a full-stack long-distance GPS + camera-operated rover with remote control, live video streaming, GPS tracking, obstacle detection, audio interaction, lighting, delivery compartment, and solar charging integration.

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to work across mechanical, embedded, software, and systems integration layers of a real robotics product.

What You Will Build

The intern will contribute to the development of a rover platform with features such as:

  • Remote driving over cellular internet
  • Front and rear cameras
  • GPS-based tracking and waypoint navigation
  • Obstacle detection and auto-stop logic
  • Emergency stop and signal-loss safety behavior
  • Headlights, taillights, and horn/speaker control
  • Text-to-speech audio interaction
  • Package delivery compartment
  • Solar charging station and auto-docking support
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in designing and prototyping the rover chassis, component layout, and mounting system
  • Work on ESP32 / microcontroller-based motor and sensor control
  • Support integration of GPS, cameras, speaker, lighting, and obstacle sensors
  • Help develop communication between rover hardware and web/mobile control interface
  • Contribute to telemetry, safety logic, and remote command execution
  • Test power systems, battery performance, and charging workflows
  • Support documentation, wiring diagrams, BOM, and technical notes
  • Collaborate with mechanical, embedded, and software team members
  • Debug hardware, firmware, and integration issues during development
Required Skills
  • Strong interest in robotics, mechatronics, or embedded systems
  • Basic knowledge of electronics, motors, sensors, and microcontrollers
  • Familiarity with ESP32 , Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar platforms
  • Understanding of serial communication, PWM, GPIO, and sensor interfacing
  • Basic programming ability in C/C++ / Python
  • Willingness to work on hardware testing, iteration, and troubleshooting
  • Good problem-solving and documentation skills
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with ROS / ROS2
  • Experience with GPS modules, motor drivers, and camera systems
  • Exposure to WebSockets, MQTT, or remote device control
  • Knowledge of battery systems, BMS, and power distribution
  • Basic CAD or mechanical design experience
  • Familiarity with computer vision, streaming, or telemetry dashboards
  • Experience building DIY robots, rovers, RC vehicles, or automation systems
Personality We Want
  • Curious and builder-minded
  • Comfortable with trial, error, and fast iteration
  • Detail-oriented with safety-first thinking
  • Able to communicate clearly with engineers and non-engineers
  • Excited to work on a real-world robotics product from scratch
Learning Outcomes

By the end of the internship, the candidate should gain exposure to:

  • Full-stack robotics system design
  • Embedded control for mobile robots
  • Remote operation and telemetry architecture
  • Hardware-software integration
  • Practical safety design for autonomous/teleoperated systems
  • Product development from prototype to test-ready build
