Job Description

We are seeking a Robotics Autonomy & Perception Lead to lead the design and deployment of our Agentic AI Drone System - an autonomous indoor drone that patrols living spaces, monitors household inventory, and triggers restocking via ShopQuantum’s AI commerce engine.

You will own the end-to-end architecture: from PX4 flight control, indoor navigation, perception (CV + RFID), and decision logic, to safety, docking, and operational reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical architecture: PX4/ArduPilot flight control, MAVLink/MAVROS, ROS 2 (Humble/Iron), Nav2, and UWB/VIO/SLAM localization.
  • Build real-time perception pipeline: YOLOv8/YOLOv10 detection, GroundingDINO (open-vocab), SAM segmentation, and RFID/RAIN integration for inventory accuracy.
  • Design the Inventory Brain: compare actual vs. target stock levels, forecast consumption, and trigger purchase through ShopQuantum API or bot connector.
  • Integrate with Home Assistant for presence detection, scheduling, and smart-home event triggers.
  • Develop indoor navigation and mapping (ORB-SLAM3, VINS-Fusion, rtabmap) for 3D environment understanding.
  • Oversee hardware selection: Jetson Orin Nano/Xavier NX, RealSense D435, ToF/LiDAR, UWB anchors, load-cell sensors, and safety-guarded frames.
  • Design and optimize autonomous docking using AprilTag alignment and contact charging.
  • Build safety, testing, and mission-log frameworks (HIL/SIL simulation, telemetry logging, blackbox review).
  • Manage a multidisciplinary team (robotics, ML/CV, embedded, backend).
  • Define KPIs and execute the 30/60/90-day roadmap toward a working V1 prototype.

Requirements

  • 6–10 years of experience in robotics or autonomous systems, including 3+ years in team lead or technical lead role.
  • Deep understanding of PX4/ArduPilot firmware, MAVLink protocol, and ROS 2 ecosystem (Nav2, microRTPS).
  • Hands-on experience with VIO/SLAM (ORB-SLAM 2/3, VINS-Fusion, rtabmap) and sensor fusion (EKF/UKF).
  • Strong knowledge in computer vision and edge AI: YOLO, GroundingDINO, SAM, TensorRT optimization on Jetson.
  • Proven experience with indoor localization (UWB, AprilTag/ArUco, depth camera, ToF/LiDAR).
  • Strong focus on flight safety, QA, and mission reliability.
  • Excellent system architecture, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English (technical communication and documentation).

Plus Points

  • Experience with RFID/RAIN, load-cell weight sensing, or Home Assistant integrations.
  • Familiar with eCommerce or API-driven automation systems.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD for robotics, Docker, Prometheus/Grafana telemetry.
  • Prior work in consumer robotics or safety-critical indoor autonomy projects.
