Company Description ASEM (Advanced Semiconductor Excellence Malaysia), part of the Malaysia IC Design Park, is a national initiative launched in 2023 to accelerate Malaysia’s role in the global semiconductor value chain. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Economy with strong support from the Selangor State Government and SIDEC, ASEM focuses on shifting the industry from “Made in Malaysia” to “Made by Malaysia.” The academy provides access to EDA tools, test infrastructure, IP resources, MPW services, talent development programs, and the Selangor Semiconductor Fund. Through partnerships with leading international universities and more than 25 local institutions, as well as collaborations with over 150 industry partners and major foundries such as TSMC, Siltera, and xFabs, ASEM offers a rich ecosystem for learning, research, and innovation. About The Program
The RTL Design Engineer Apprenticeship Program is designed for graduates who aspire to build a career in Digital IC Design, Processor Design, and Semiconductor Engineering. Participants will undergo structured technical training in RISC-V processor architecture, RTL design methodologies, and semiconductor development workflows, followed by industry-focused On-the-Job Training (OJT).
Program Structure
During the 10-day training phase in Chennai, India, you'll gain practical exposure to: -
• Technical lectures and guided practical sessions
• Semiconductor ecosystem exposure• Industry visits and technical sharing sessions
• Networking opportunities with students and professionals
• International learning environment
In the 3-week hands-on training phase in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, you'll gain practical experience in:
• Practical RTL design exercises
• Processor and SoC design projects
• Simulation and debugging activities
• Industry-readiness workshops
In the following 3 months, you'll gain hands-on industry experience through an On-the-Job Training (OJT) placement.
Responsibilities
As an RTL Design Engineer Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to industry-standard semiconductor development workflows such as:
• Developing and modifying RTL designs using Verilog/SystemVerilog
• Supporting processor and SoC design activities
• Performing simulation, debugging, and functional verification• Assisting in design validation and testing activities
• Supporting FPGA prototyping and implementation tasks
• Collaborating with design and verification teams on project deliverables
• Preparing technical documentation and design reports
• Participating in engineering reviews and technical discussions
Who We're Looking For
• Fresh graduates or final-year students in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines
• Strong interest in Digital IC Design, Processor Design, or Semiconductor Engineering
• Basic understanding of digital logic design and computer architecture is an advantage
• Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced technical environment
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Able to commit to the full training and OJT duration
