About the job:

You’ll lead technology integration across multiple robotics and AI workstreams — including SPOT quadruped robotics, LiDAR scanning, autonomous inspections, and high-risk work mitigation applications. This is a high-visibility role that blends innovation leadership, field operations experience, and program delivery to bring practical solutions to life.

What you’ll do

* Lead technology integration initiatives across four key workstreams: Emergency Response, LiDAR scanning for asset management & training, Routine autonomous inspections with AI, and High-risk work augmentation & catastrophic risk avoidance.

* Manage the planning, development, pilot implementation, and scaling of new technologies, ensuring alignment with safety, engineering, and operations priorities.

* Act as the primary liaison between Operations (field), Engineering, Safety, and external vendors to ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose and field-ready.

* Develop business cases, implementation strategies, and capital plans for technology deployments.

* Coordinate testing, evaluation, and integration of payloads, communication systems, and AI components for robotic platforms.

* Identify opportunities to improve worker safety, reduce manual inspection hours, and support regulatory compliance using robotics and sensing technologies.

* Support training and change management to ensure smooth adoption by field crews and engineering users.

* Track progress, manage risks, and report project status to senior leadership through formal business planning and reporting cycles.

What you bring

* A Degree (B.Eng or BSc) in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Applied Technology, or a related discipline with at least one year industry experience working with Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision models. Preference will be given to applicants with a Master’s Degree (i.e.: M.Eng or MSc.).

* A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in technology integration, capital project delivery, or utility operations.

* Equivalent combinations of utility operations experience and technical expertise in robotics systems and coding will be considered.

* Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder technology projects, ideally within an operational utility, engineering, or industrial environment.

* Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage vendor relationships effectively.

* Strong understanding of robotics platforms, including but not limited to: Boston Dynamics SPOT, Unitree Go2, and Unitree G1 humanoid platform.

* Hands-on experience with coding, scripting, and configuring robotic systems (e.g., Python, ROS, SDK integration, sensor payload configuration).

* Familiarity with LiDAR scanning, digital twins, remote sensing, and AI-enabled inspection systems.

* Working knowledge of utility operations, safety regulations (e.g., WorkSafeBC confined space entry, arc-flash safety), and engineering support workflows.

* Demonstrated ability to translate emerging technology into practical field applications that support safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across field operations, engineering, IT, and external vendors.

* PMP or equivalent project management certification is considered an asset.
