Our client, a global company operating in the defence industry, is seeking an experienced
Principal Engineer – FPGA Design
to join its high-technology engineering team.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge defence projects, lead FPGA development activities, and play a key role in the design of advanced embedded systems.
Key Responsibilities

Develop VHDL/HDL code for FPGA-based solutions.

Design combinational logic and synchronous digital circuits.
-
Develop and implement algorithms running on FPGA platforms.
-
Work with high-speed data interfaces, including DDR memories, SerDes, and Gigabit I/O.

Create and maintain test benches and verification environments.
-
Utilize verification tools such as ModelSim.
-
Develop TCL scripts for test automation.
-
Perform HDL synthesis and FPGA implementation activities.
-
Utilize vendor tools such as Vivado and/or Libero for FPGA development.
-
Develop solutions for real-time embedded systems and defence-related projects.
-
Integrate FPGA peripherals and modules including ADCs, DACs, SPI, I2C, CAN, PWM controllers, DDR memories, and LVDS interfaces.

Design SoC-based systems using AXI3 and APB bus architectures.
-
Develop embedded software using C/C++ and Assembly languages.
-
Work with Yocto and FreeRTOS-based platforms.

Develop and maintain Board Support Packages (BSPs).
-
Mentor and support junior engineers.
-
Conduct hardware testing, debugging, and troubleshooting activities.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 15 years of experience in FPGA design and VHDL development.

Knowledge of Verilog.

Hands-on experience with Vivado and/or Libero development tools.

Strong background in digital electronics and high-speed data processing systems.

Experience with DDR Memory, SerDes, Gigabit I/O, and LVDS technologies.

Familiarity with SoC architectures, AXI3, and APB bus protocols.

Proficiency in C/C++ programming.

Experience with Yocto and FreeRTOS.

Knowledge of version control systems such as Git or SVN.

Exposure to DO-254 development methodology.
-
Previous experience within the defence industry is highly preferred.
