Location: San Diego, California (Onsite)

Employment Type: Full-time


About the Role

NetworkPedia is seeking a Senior / Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join an innovative aerospace engineering team developing high-reliability embedded software for next-generation space-based systems. This hands-on role focuses on designing, developing, and testing embedded software for mission-critical hardware operating in real-time environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for aerospace and space-based systems.
  • Develop bootloaders, BSPs, kernel modules, and device drivers for real-time operating systems.
  • Program in C/C++, Python, and assembly for embedded platforms.
  • Support system integration, hardware bring-up, debugging, and manufacturing test activities.
  • Develop automated test tools and desktop applications using Python.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical planning.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, systems, and manufacturing teams throughout the development lifecycle.


Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++ .
  • Experience with Python for automation and testing.
  • Hands-on experience developing Board Support Packages (BSPs) , bootloaders, kernels, and device drivers.
  • Experience with VxWorks , Embedded Linux , RTEMS , or bare-metal environments.
  • Experience debugging low-level hardware and embedded systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.


Preferred Skills

  • Buildroot or Yocto.
  • NAND Flash file systems.
  • Assembly programming.
  • Hardware debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, or in-circuit emulators.
  • Aerospace, Space, Defense, or Satellite industry experience.
  • RTOS development.
  • Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
  • Experience with pyvisa or nidaqmx.
