In this position...
The Electrified System Engineering Power Electronics Embedded SW Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and validation of embedded SW used in non-motive power conversion modules (DC/DC converter, AC onboard charger etc.).
This position entails working collaboratively with Ford internal and external teams including Hardware, Software, D&R, Validation, and power electronics suppliers to design / develop SW that meets corporate requirements, specifications, and customer needs. The selected candidate will be part of a team that will drive future product development and deliver industry-first features in the growing field of vehicle electrification!
Responsibilities
What you'll do...

Develop new real-time firmware in C or other relevant programming languages for implementing control algorithms of power conversion systems. (Charger, DCDC)

Develop microcontroller peripheral drivers (such as GPIOs, timers, ADC, PWM and SPI).

Deliver high-quality C code in a safety critical real-time embedded environment.

Work closely with power conversion hardware and control teams to specify hardware actuation and sensing requirements.

Test, validate, and troubleshoot controller implementation for delivering functional and robust code.

Implement continuous improvements and best practices.

Familiar with Autosar OS, ISO 15118-2/20, ASIL ratings, CAN FD, LIN CP, MISRA.
Qualifications
You'll have...

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 5+ years of relevant experience in real-time embedded software development.

Proficiency with C programming language.

Hands-on experience with real-time firmware development for microcontrollers and Digital Signal Processors (DSPs).

Strong understanding of firmware architecture, algorithm development, data structures, code modularity, and maintainability.

Understanding of various high power conversion topologies (such as PFC, CLLC, and DAB DC/DC) and their associated control algorithms.

Familiarity with control loops and PID controllers.

Master’s or PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science with 3+ years of relevant experience in real-time embedded software development.

Understanding of MISRA or other code quality standards.

This position is a range of salary grades 6 - 8 .

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
