We are looking for an experienced
PCB Design & Hardware Development Engineer
to design, develop, and validate electronic systems for our drone avionics platform. The successful candidate will lead the hardware development of a companion/mission computer that interfaces with our flight controller, from schematic capture through to production-ready design.
You will join a dynamic, high-demand environment focused on reliability, safety, and performance — contributing directly to hardware that flies.
As a PCB Designer & Hardware Development Engineer you will
:
-
Lead schematic design and PCB layout
for multi-layer boards (6+ layers) used in embedded avionics systems, with tight size, weight, and power (SWaP) constraints
-
Apply EMI/EMC best practices
at the board level — including shielding, grounding, filtering, and signal integrity techniques — in accordance with DO-160 (and MIL-STD-461 where applicable)
-
Select components
based on aviation-grade requirements: extended temperature range, vibration/shock resistance, long-term availability, and reliability
-
Create and maintain
the Bill of Materials (BOM), design documentation, and release packages
-
Collaborate closely
with firmware/software and systems engineering teams to define hardware interfaces, requirements, and constraints
-
Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT)
, ensuring smooth transition from prototype to production
-
Support prototyping, board bring-up, debugging
, and hardware verification/validation
-
Prepare and oversee EMC testing
(conducted and radiated emissions, immunity tests) at external test facilities, driving designs toward first-pass compliance
Qualifications What would make you fit for the role:
-
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field
-
5+ years
of professional experience in PCB design and hardware development
-
Proficiency with industry-standard PCB design tools —
Altium Designer
preferred; KiCad, Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, or Eagle also accepted
-
Strong knowledge of
EMI/EMC principles
and PCB-level interference mitigation techniques
-
Experience with
high-speed digital design
, power supply design (DC-DC converters, LDOs), and mixed-signal circuits
-
Familiarity with common embedded communication interfaces:
SPI, I2C, UART, CAN / CAN FD, Ethernet
-
Ability to use simulation and analysis tools (SPICE, signal integrity, power integrity)
-
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with ownership over the full hardware development cycle
Prefered Qualifications:
-
Experience in
avionics, aerospace, or safety-critical systems
-
Experience with
FPGA-based designs
or SoC integration
-
Familiarity with
thermal analysis
and mechanical integration of PCBs (enclosure fit, connector placement, thermal management)
-
Experience with
version control and lifecycle management
for hardware projects (Git, PLM systems)
-
Exposure to
certification processes
(EASA, FAA Part 23, or equivalent)
-
Master's degree in a relevant field
