By creating custom silicon and optimized architectures, the team ensures Tesla remains a leader in AI-driven automotive and energy solutions, shaping a future where intelligent machines enhance human life.

The Tesla AI Hardware team is looking for an RTL Designer for our cutting-edge neural accelerator IP. Other than RTL implementation, the candidate is expected to participate in architectural/microarchitectural planning, performance/power evaluations, and PD closure. The RTL designer is the hub of the entire design cycle.

This is an in-office position to facilitate rapid iteration and problem solving with the team.

What You'll Do

  • Implement SystemVerilog RTL for neural‑processor blocks
  • Debug RTL using industry‑standard tools (VCS, Verdi, VS Code)
  • Collaborate daily with fellow RTL designers, verification (DV), performance, physical design (PD), and DFT engineers
  • Support cross‑functional teams (DV, performance, PD) throughout the design flow
  • Present work to superiors and broader audiences when needed
  • Work primarily on‑site in a close‑knit, team‑first environment
  • Prioritize high‑quality RTL development, thorough documentation, and code reviews
  • Adapt quickly to shifting priorities and adjust daily task plans accordingly
  • Allocate most of the day to RTL development while maintaining code quality standards
  • Leverage AI‑based assistants and tools to speed up design, verification, and debugging tasks


  • What You'll Bring

  • Degree in Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 1 or more years of full-time (non-internship) experience doing CPU/GPU/NPU design at a major chip company
  • Experience with Systemverilog and industry standard tools design tools (Synopsys or Cadence)
  • Strong desire to work cooperatively with others
