Job Description

Mining Robotics Jobs Santiago

Rex.zone is hiring a remote, full-time Mining Robotics Engineer to build and deploy autonomy and robotics capabilities for real-world mining environments. You will work across perception, localization (SLAM), sensor fusion, autonomy stacks, safety validation, and field-ready QA evaluation using production data loops (telemetry, edge logs, labeled datasets).

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement autonomy features for mining robotics systems (navigation, obstacle avoidance, task execution).
  • Build and maintain ROS2 modules, message definitions, launch configurations, and hardware abstraction layers.
  • Develop perception and localization pipelines using computer vision, LiDAR/radar, IMU, GNSS, and sensor fusion.
  • Create evaluation protocols (regression tests, scenario coverage, acceptance criteria) and track autonomy KPIs.
  • Analyze edge logs and telemetry to identify failure modes and deliver measurable reliability improvements.
  • Support simulation and replay workflows, including scenario-based testing for rare events.
  • Collaborate on safety validation, interlocks, and operational constraints aligned to mining sites.
  • Produce engineering documentation, runbooks, and operational handoffs.

Required Qualifications

  • Mid-senior experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or industrial automation with field-deployed systems.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python with testable code practices.
  • Hands-on experience with ROS2, TF/frames, bagging/replay, and distributed robotics systems.
  • Working knowledge of SLAM, mapping, motion planning, and sensor fusion fundamentals.
  • Ability to design validation plans (KPIs, scenario coverage, regression, root-cause analysis).

Compensation

Competitive hourly base salary: $30–$50/hr .
