ABOUT LOGIDOT
Logidot is a privately-owned company founded in 2019, born out of a research programme at Imperial College London, to develop a system for high-performance real-time tracking of industrial mobile assets. Logidot is a pioneer and manufacturer of award-winning industrial Real-Time Location System (RTLS) and AI-powered process automation solutions that help warehouse and factory operators optimise their operations.
Our mission is to bring people, processes, assets and industrial spaces into optimal flow. Logidot creates a digital twin of warehouse, factory or yard operations by tracking mobile assets (e.g. vehicles, tools, stock, robots) in real time with our uniquely high-performance, plug-and-play, low-cost location tracking sensors, based on proprietary UWB mesh technology combined with GPS, IMU and environmental sensor fusion. Our Smart Factory platform gives managers the ability to analyse real-time and historical material flows, dynamically orchestrate and optimise efficiency, safety and sustainability through predictions, location-based process automation and alerts.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Hardware Lead to take ownership of our IoT hardware stack — from sensor deployment and testing through to quality assurance and incremental hardware development. This is a broad, practical role suited to someone who is comfortable bridging hardware, embedded software and data, and who thrives in a fast-moving startup environment.
You will work closely with our contract manufacturer to manage production quality and coordinate minor hardware extensions, while also supporting field deployments at customer and test sites. On the software side, you will write Python scripts for testing, diagnostics and data analysis, and contribute to embedded firmware where needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Hardware Deployment & Testing
• Lead and execute the deployment of UWB mesh sensors and associated hardware at customer and internal test sites.
• Design and run hardware test plans, including RF signal testing and performance validation in realistic environments.
• Conduct quality testing on incoming hardware from the contract manufacturer; document results and flag issues.
• Liaise with the contract manufacturer on production quality, minor design modifications and component changes.
• Maintain and evolve test rigs, tooling and documentation to support repeatable hardware validation.
Hardware Development
• Extend and adapt existing hardware designs to support new use cases or sensor integrations (GPS, IMU, environmental sensors).
• Work with EDA tools for minor schematic and PCB modifications; coordinate with the CM for prototyping and bring-up.
• Support integration of new sensor modalities into our UWB mesh and sensor fusion architecture.
• Evaluate and select components and modules to extend hardware capabilities while maintaining cost and reliability targets.
Software & Diagnostics
• Write Python scripts for hardware testing, RF diagnostics, data collection and simple data analysis.
• Contribute to embedded firmware (C/C++) to support new hardware features and sensor integrations.
• Build and maintain diagnostic tooling to support troubleshooting in the field and at the factory.
• Maintain clear documentation of hardware configurations, test results and firmware versions.
CORE REQUIREMENTS
We are not looking for an expert industrial designer or a senior engineer with decades of experience. We want someone who has demonstrated practical, relevant work in a professional setting and who is eager to grow with the company. The ideal candidate will have:
• A BSc or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience with electronic hardware: PCB bring-up, test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, network analysers), and RF testing.
• Practical experience with wireless communication protocols — UWB, BLE, Wi-Fi, or similar — including signal characterisation and troubleshooting.
• Experience working with embedded systems (e.g. STM32, Nordic, ESP32 or similar); ability to read and modify firmware in C or C++.
• Proficiency in Python, with the ability to write test scripts, process sensor data and perform basic data analysis.
• Familiarity with sensor integration: GPS/GNSS, IMU (accelerometer/gyroscope/magnetometer) or environmental sensors.
• Experience liaising with or managing a contract manufacturer, including quality testing and production coordination.
• The ability to think and work independently. Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to work hands-on in the field as well as at a bench.
• Superb team working and communication skills (in English)
• A passion for technology and a desire to push the boundaries (not looking for a 9/5 job)
• At least one demonstrable professional project or role where you delivered working hardware in a real-world context.
BONUS/NICE-TO-HAVE
• Experience with RTLS or asset tracking solutions.
• Familiarity with sensor fusion algorithms (Kalman filtering, particle filters, etc.).
• Knowledge of LPWAN technologies (LoRa, NB-IoT) or mesh networking protocols.
• Experience with Linux-based embedded platforms (e.g. Raspberry Pi, Yocto, Buildroot).
• Basic understanding of Docker or CI/CD pipelines for firmware/software release.
• Experience with warehouse or industrial IoT deployments.
• Knowledge of FCC/CE regulatory testing processes for wireless devices.
OTHER
While the role is mostly remote, the candidate has to be UK based and is expected to travel to events and client sites approximately on a monthly basis. He/she will be remunerated with a competitive base salary as well as a significant stake of options in the company.
WHAT WE OFFER
• A pivotal role in a growing deep-tech startup with real ownership and impact from day one.
• The chance to work on genuinely novel technology at the intersection of UWB, sensor fusion, industrial IoT and AI.
• A small, skilled and passionate team .
• Competitive salary, significant stake of share options in company and flexible working arrangements.
• Opportunities to travel to customer sites (UK and Europe) and trade shows to represent Logidot in the field.
