Job Description

The Tactical Recon & Strike team develops aerial small drones (Group 1-3) and related equipment, taking products from concept to operational systems. The Lead Firmware Engineer will lead/manage the firmware engineering team for small drone products, develop low-level firmware/software for microcontrollers, create reusable device drivers, integrate system-level features, and architect changes to support a growing codebase. Responsibilities include debugging issues across electrical, firmware, and software boundaries, and reviewing schematics with the electrical engineering team. Required qualifications include hands-on capability in a fast-paced environment, BS or MS in CS/CE/EE or equivalent experience, strong C coding for embedded systems, experience with microcontrollers and sensors, firmware development in bare-metal or RTOS environments, understanding of coding best practices, familiarity with bus protocols (USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, Ethernet), experience with unit tests and continuous improvement tools, and eligibility for U.S. Secret security clearance. Preferential qualifications include experience with microcontroller cores (ARM, AVR, MSP430, PIC), debugging skills with JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers, and a proactive problem-solving attitude.
