About Gallagher

At Gallagher, we're building technology that protects what matters most. From securing some of the world's most valuable assets to helping farmers care for millions of animals, our solutions are trusted in more than 160 countries.

Within our Animal Management business, we're redefining what's possible in agriculture through connected hardware, intelligent software and world-class engineering. From embedded firmware to cloud-connected devices, we're creating technology that helps farmers work smarter, improve animal welfare and farm more sustainably.

The next chapter of that innovation is already underway - and that's where you come in.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to lead the embedded software capability behind some of Gallagher's most innovative products.

As Lead Engineer – Embedded Software, you'll own the technical direction of our embedded platform, guiding architecture decisions across firmware, connectivity and device software while remaining close enough to the code to solve complex engineering challenges.

You'll lead a talented team of engineers, helping them grow while establishing the technical standards, engineering practices and architectural vision that will underpin future generations of our products.

Working alongside Product Managers, Hardware Engineers, Cloud Engineers and fellow technical leaders, you'll play a key role in delivering reliable, secure and scalable technology that farmers rely on every day.

You'll be responsible for

  • Leading the architecture and technical direction of embedded software platforms for our core products & solutions
  • Providing hands-on technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews and technical problem solving
  • Coaching and developing embedded software engineers
  • Driving engineering excellence, quality and continuous improvement
  • Influencing technology strategy across multiple product programmes
  • Collaborating across software, hardware and product teams to deliver innovative connected devices

The Fit

You're an experienced embedded software leader who enjoys solving difficult technical problems just as much as helping engineers succeed.

You bring credibility through your technical expertise, communicate well across disciplines and know how to balance long-term architecture with delivering quality products.

You'll Also Bring

  • A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience developing embedded software for commercial products
  • Strong expertise in C/C++, RTOS, embedded Linux or similar embedded platforms
  • Experience designing scalable embedded software architecture
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring software engineering teams
  • Experience working within Agile product development environments
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and technical communication skills

If you're excited by complex engineering challenges and want to shape technology that's making a real difference for farmers around the world, we'd love to hear from you.

Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the role may be filled before the closing date.
