Your Tasks

  • Own the development of IoT systems with a focus on embedded software, system architecture, and hardware/firmware integration
  • Design and develop embedded software for IoT products on microcontroller and (optionally) Linux-based systems, with an emphasis on robustness, efficiency, and scalability
  • Provide technical support to hardware development in collaboration with external partners; review and challenge PCB designs for functionality, quality, and manufacturability
  • Work closely with mechanical, software, and cloud teams to ensure seamless system integration
  • Define and refine product requirements from concept through to series production in collaboration with various stakeholders
  • Develop and integrate prototypes, and support the handover to series production in coordination with external partners
  • Co-design and further develop the embedded platform, including MCU and (optionally) Linux/Yocto-based components
  • Develop pragmatic test strategies to ensure functionality and reliability across hardware and firmware
  • Support manufacturing and development partners with debugging, documentation, and production ramp-up
  • Provide Level 3 technical support for complex system, firmware, and hardware issue
  • Willingness to travel (5–10%) to support partners, validations, and product launches

Your Profile

  • Degree in electrical engineering, embedded systems, computer science, or a related field (university of applied sciences or university level) — or equivalent practical experience
  • Several years of hands-on experience in embedded development (hardware-related and firmware)
  • Basic understanding of hardware design and PCB layouts; ability to critically assess design decisions and collaborate with hardware teams
  • In-depth knowledge of embedded firmware development and software architecture for microcontrollers (e.g. ARM Cortex, ESP32, STM32)
  • Experience with sensor integration and wireless communication protocols such as BLE and WiFi
  • Experience with embedded Linux systems (e.g. Yocto), particularly with SoMs and MCU + Linux architectures, is an advantage
  • Holistic system understanding spanning mechanics, sensors, actuators, and their integration into robust IoT products
  • Hands-on experience with hardware testing, debugging tools, and automated production testing
  • Familiarity with certification standards (CE, FCC, etc.) is an advantage
  • Fluent in German and English; additional languages are a plus

What They Offer

  • Opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth
  • Highly flexible working hours
  • Remote work options
  • Support for professional development
  • At least 25 days of annual leave, plus Christmas and New Year holidays
  • Strong pension/retirement provision
  • A great team culture and an enjoyable working environment
