Job Description

About This Role

Rex.zone is hiring a remote, full-time Healthcare Robotics Engineer to help build and evaluate robotics systems used in healthcare settings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across AI/ML, QA, and product to deliver reliable robot behavior, strong test coverage, performance measurement, and production readiness.

What You Will Work On

  • Design and implement robotics software for healthcare workflows (navigation, manipulation, task execution, monitoring) with production-grade reliability
  • Develop perception pipelines using computer vision and sensor fusion (RGB-D, LiDAR, IMU) for localization, mapping, and obstacle avoidance
  • Build motion planning and control modules for safe operation around patients and staff, including speed/force limits and fail-safe behavior
  • Create simulation-first development loops (Gazebo/Ignition, Isaac Sim, Unity, or equivalent) to accelerate iteration and reduce risk
  • Define test plans and validation metrics for deployment (latency, accuracy, uptime, recovery behavior)
  • Instrument systems for observability (logs, traces, health checks) and support incident response and root-cause analysis
  • Translate clinical requirements into engineering specs, acceptance criteria, and release gates
  • Document architecture, interfaces, and operating procedures for safe deployment and maintainability

Required Qualifications

  • Mid-Senior experience shipping robotics or autonomous systems in production or near-production environments
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++ with solid software engineering practices (code review, testing, CI)
  • Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 and common robotics tools
  • Experience with perception (computer vision), SLAM/localization, and/or motion planning
  • Linux development and hardware/software integration experience
  • Clear communication in a distributed, remote team with strong written documentation

Tools & tech

  • ROS2, Python, C++, Linux, Docker, Git, CI/CD
  • OpenCV and sensor fusion utilities
  • SLAM toolkits, navigation stacks, motion planning libraries
  • Simulation: Gazebo/Ignition, Isaac Sim, Unity, or equivalent
  • Monitoring/telemetry: structured logging, metrics dashboards, on-device health checks

How To Apply

Apply through Rex.zone and highlight relevant healthcare robotics projects, production deployments, and safety/testing experience.
