Hardware Development Engineer Level 2 (Hybrid)

Location: Milwaukee, WI or Mayfield Heights, OH

Our Client is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer Level 2 to join a collaborative engineering team developing advanced industrial automation products used by manufacturers around the world. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on design, troubleshooting complex hardware systems, and working across the full product development lifecycle.

In this role, you'll work alongside experienced engineers in an Agile environment, contributing to hardware architecture, prototype development, testing, validation, and continuous product improvement. What You'll Be Doing

• Design, develop, and verify electronic hardware for industrial automation products

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and debug hardware prototypes in a lab environment

• Work with digital, analog, microprocessor-based, and power electronic systems

• Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, and other test equipment to identify and resolve issues

• Develop and support automated testing and simulation solutions using Python and/or C++

• Create engineering documentation, test plans, validation reports, and design records

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle

• Research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and engineering methods

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering organization

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field

• 2+ years of hands-on hardware product development experience

• Strong understanding of circuit theory, digital electronics, analog electronics, microprocessors, and power systems

• Experience reading and creating schematics using hardware design tools

• Hands-on experience with hardware debugging, board bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting

• Proficiency using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers

• Working knowledge of Python and/or C++ for testing, automation, or embedded applications

• Experience working in a collaborative Agile development environment

• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with automated test development and simulation tools

• Familiarity with safety and compliance standards such as IEC61508 and IEC61000

• Experience supporting products through verification, validation, and compliance testing

• Exposure to industrial automation, control systems, embedded hardware, or related technologies
