We are seeking a highly motivated Hardware Design Engineer for Pure’s Datastore team. The

Pure Engineering Team builds the industry’s most innovative, high-performance, energy-efficient

and TCO-optimised storage solution. As part of this team, you will help productize this

differentiated storage solution for our customers.


SHOULD YOU ACCEPT THIS CHALLENGE…


Lead SSD hardware design activities from concept through mass production, including

schematic design, debug, validation, and manufacturing support.

Contribute to all phases of the product lifecycle, including architecture, design,

documentation, validation, qualification, and sustaining engineering.

Drive interoperability testing across server/storage systems and SSDs.

Diagnose and resolve HW-related issues in collaboration with internal teams, external

partners, and JDMs.

Apply deep knowledge of high-speed interfaces and bus technologies such as PCIe,

DDR, NAND, SPI, and I2C.

Evaluate system-level tradeoffs in mechanical, thermal, power, and signal integrity

design.

Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations to support field escalations and

reliability improvements.

Work with diagnostics/test engineers by reviewing test plans to ensure proper coverage

Develop and leverage automation tools and AI-driven methodologies to improve SSD

design efficiency and validation workflows.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE…


7+ years of experience in hardware design and development, including schematic

capture, PCB layout review, and component selection.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Hands-on experience in SSD hardware design and development.

Experience with PCIe Gen6 and Gen5 designs.

Experience in validating hardware at the electrical, SI, protocol and functional levels.

Experience using high-speed oscilloscopes, differential probes, and hardware debug

equipment.

Strong experience with scripting languages (Python, BASH, etc)

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills with attention to detail.

Ability to operate in a fast-paced changing business environment

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Mandarin and English.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS…


Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.


Experience working with hyperscale customers


Familiarity with SSD industry standards and compliance testing, including PCI-SIG and

NVMe.


Experience using PCIe protocol analyzers and PCIe debug methodologies.


Familiarity with SI simulation software and techniques


Knowledge of high-speed PCB routing techniques and stackup design.


Familiarity with x86 and AMD server architectures.
