Hardware Engineer – Electronics & Systems
SKEYEBOTS | Bangalore, India | Full-Time | Hybrid
About SKEYEBOTS
SKEYEBOTS is an AI-driven autonomous systems company developing intelligent hardware and software for unmanned platforms operating across aerial, ground, and maritime environments. We build for demanding, real-world conditions where reliability, performance, and resilience are non-negotiable.
With engineering operations across India, we are a well-funded, rapidly scaling organisation with a strong institutional foundation and an ambitious roadmap ahead.
We are not looking for people who want to maintain. We are looking for engineers who want to build — and grow with a company doing it at scale.
The Role
This role demands equal strength in electronics design and firmware development. You will take end-to-end responsibility for electronics on our autonomous platforms — from schematic entry and PCB layout through firmware development, board bring-up, validation, and field integration. You will work closely with our Hardware Architect across the full electronics and embedded stack.
If you have strong electronics foundations, solid firmware capability, and want your work visible in real deployed systems, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
Electronics Design & PCB Development
-
Own the full PCB design cycle: component selection, schematic entry, multilayer layout, and routing
-
Design and analyse critical circuits — power supplies, filter circuits, oscillator circuits, rectifiers, and protection circuits
-
Apply EMI/EMC best practices and conduct signal integrity analysis throughout the design process
-
Produce DFM-compliant layouts ready for manufacturing handoff
-
Select components with focus on reliability, availability, thermal performance, and cost
Firmware Development
-
Develop firmware in Embedded C for microcontroller and microprocessor-based subsystems
-
Design and implement RTOS-based architectures (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or equivalent) for real-time, deterministic operation
-
Write and maintain hardware abstraction layers (HAL), peripheral drivers, and board support packages (BSP)
-
Implement communication protocol stacks: I2C, SPI, UART, CAN — from driver level through application
-
Develop sensor integration firmware and data acquisition pipelines for multi-sensor systems
-
Maintain firmware under version control with clean documentation and review discipline
Board Bring-Up, Testing & Validation
-
Lead board bring-up and electrical debugging on new designs
-
Conduct hardware-firmware co-debugging during bring-up and integration phases
-
Perform functional, environmental (IP-rated enclosures), thermal, and reliability validation
-
Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, LCR meters, and spectrum analyzers effectively
-
Document test results, failure analysis, design revisions, and validation reports
Systems Integration
-
Integrate electronics and firmware onto autonomous platforms — UAVs, ground vehicles, and unmanned surface vessels
-
Support system-level integration testing across multi-platform deployments
-
Identify and resolve hardware and firmware-level integration issues in the field
-
Collaborate cross-functionally with software and systems teams during integration phases
What We're Looking For
Required
-
B.Tech / B.E. in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
-
3+ years of hands-on professional experience in electronics hardware and firmware development
-
Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of PCB designs from schematic through routing on multilayer boards
-
Strong fundamentals in analog and digital circuit design and analysis
-
Proficiency in PCB design tools: KiCad or Altium Designer
-
Sound understanding of EMI/EMC principles, signal integrity, and DFM
-
Hands-on board bring-up and hardware debugging experience
-
Embedded C programming with practical RTOS implementation experience
-
Familiarity with embedded communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, CAN
-
Ability to take independent ownership of subsystems in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
-
Prior experience with autonomous systems, UAVs, robotics, or unmanned vehicles
-
Experience with FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar RTOS platforms
-
HAL and BSP development experience
-
Experience designing for IP-rated or rugged enclosures
-
Exposure to 3D modelling for DFM (SolidWorks or equivalent)
-
Version control with Git
-
DGCA Remote Pilot Training (RPT) certification (a plus, not a requirement)
What You'll Get
-
Direct mentorship from hardware architects and industry experts across India and internationally
-
Hands-on exposure across electronics, firmware, and integration on multiple autonomous platform types
-
A fast track to greater ownership and leadership as the team scales
-
An engineering-first culture where your work ships into real systems
Location
Bangalore, Karnataka — hybrid work culture. Travel to Kochi as required. Relocation support available for the right candidate.
