About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Embedded C++ Firmware Engineer to join our engineering team on a freelance contract. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in embedded software development for multicore processor-based systems and be passionate about designing robust, high-quality firmware for regulated products.

This role involves the complete embedded software development lifecycle—from architecture and design to implementation, testing, integration, and code reviews. Experience in medical devices or other highly regulated industries is highly desirable.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded software solutions for multicore/microprocessor-based systems.
  • Develop high-quality embedded firmware using modern C++.
  • Perform software architecture, design, implementation, unit testing, and integration testing.
  • Develop RTOS-based embedded applications (Azure RTOS/ThreadX preferred).
  • Design and implement hierarchical state machines.
  • Develop, modify, and validate peripheral drivers.
  • Work with communication interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, USB, PWM, ADC, DAC, and eMMC.
  • Implement multithreading, scheduling, interrupt handling, and memory management.
  • Participate in software architecture discussions and interface definition.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Docker Dev Containers, and modern development tools.
  • Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams following Agile/SAFe methodologies.
  • Develop software compliant with medical device software standards where applicable.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of embedded software/firmware development experience.
  • Strong expertise in Modern C++ and Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Experience with RTOS-based embedded software (Azure RTOS/ThreadX preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of embedded software architecture and design patterns.
  • Experience with unit testing (Google Test preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with:

  • USB
  • PWM
  • ADC
  • DAC
  • eMMC
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Memory management
  • Interrupts
  • Scheduling
  • Multithreading
  • Experience with STM32 microcontrollers.
  • Git, GitHub, CI/CD, Docker, and VS Code.
  • Knowledge of SDLC and Agile development.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, UDP, Bluetooth, NFC, Ethernet, and Serial communication.
  • Experience in medical devices or regulated industries is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of IEC 62304, FDA guidance, and regulated software development is a strong advantage.
