Role Description

We are looking for a Founding Robotics Engineer to build the core robotics stack from scratch — spanning simulation, autonomy, and real-world deployment .

You will work directly with founders to define the technology roadmap, architecture, and product direction , especially for industrial inspection robotics and constrained environments .

Initially, this role is ESOP-heavy (ownership-driven) with a transition to salary + ESOPs post funding .


🎯 Key Responsibilities

What You Will Own (0 → 1 Responsibility)

🧠 Core Robotics Architecture

  • Design end-to-end ROS2-based system architecture
  • Build scalable, reusable ROS2 libraries and frameworks
  • Define communication, perception, and control pipelines

🧪 Simulation & Digital Twin

  • Lead Gazebo / Ignition simulation environments
  • Build high-fidelity digital twins of robotic systems
  • Develop sim-to-real transfer strategies

🤖 Autonomy & Intelligence

  • Implement SLAM, localization, and navigation (Nav2)
  • Develop path planning and obstacle avoidance
  • Integrate perception using OpenCV / AI models

⚙️ Hardware + Software Integration

  • Integrate ROS2 with real robotic systems
  • Work with sensors: LiDAR, cameras, IMU, encoders
  • Optimize for real-time performance

🚀 Deployment & Field Testing

  • Transition from simulation → real-world deployment
  • Conduct industrial testing and validation
  • Ensure robustness and reliability


🔧 Required Skills

  • Strong expertise in ROS2 (Humble/Foxy or later)
  • Hands-on experience with Gazebo / Ignition
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python
  • Strong foundation in robotics:
  • Kinematics & dynamics
  • Control systems
  • Sensor fusion

Tools & Stack

  • URDF/XACRO, RViz, TF2, rosbag, colcon
  • Linux (Ubuntu)

Algorithms

  • SLAM (RTAB-Map / Cartographer / ORB-SLAM)
  • Path planning (A*, RRT, Dijkstra)
  • ROS2 Navigation stack (Nav2)


💡 Good to Have

  • Experience with inspection / climbing / pipe robots
  • MoveIt2, Isaac Sim, Webots, Unity
  • AI/ML for perception
  • NVIDIA Jetson / embedded systems
  • Startup or 0→1 build experience
