Contract Firmware Engineer (Embedded Motor Control)

BlackBox Motor Systems is seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to assist with the development of next-generation integrated motor control systems. This is a contract position for a specific development project with the potential for future work.
Responsibilities

Develop embedded firmware for STM32-based motor controllers

Implement and optimize FOC (Field-Oriented Control) algorithms for BLDC/PMSM motors

Develop communication interfaces including CAN/CANopen, Ethernet, and Modbus RTU (RS-485)

Interface with magnetic encoders, sensors, and power electronics

Test, debug, and validate firmware on development hardware

Collaborate with our engineering team through regular design reviews and project updates
Preferred Qualifications

Strong embedded C/C++ programming experience

Experience with STM32 or similar ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers

Experience implementing FOC motor control

Experience with CAN, Ethernet/TCP-IP, and Modbus RTU

Familiarity with PWM generation, ADCs, timers, DMA, and real-time embedded systems
Work Arrangement

Remote work is acceptable.

Candidates should have access to a basic embedded development equipment capable of firmware testing and debugging (oscilloscope, power supply, programmer/debugger, and similar equipment).

Development hardware will be provided as needed.
