Spectra is seeking an experienced FPGA Engineer to help develop advanced aerospace and defense electronics that power mission-critical systems in some of the world's most demanding environments.
In this role, you'll work across the full FPGA development lifecycle—from architecture and RTL design through simulation, timing closure, hardware validation, and system integration. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop high-performance digital solutions for next-generation embedded computing platforms.
What You'll Do
-
Design and implement FPGA solutions using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog
-
Develop digital logic for signal processing, memory control, data acquisition, and high-speed communications
-
Perform simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, and implementation using industry-standard FPGA toolchains
-
Support hardware bring-up, validation, and system integration activities
-
Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineers to define requirements and architectures
-
Participate in design reviews, technical assessments, and product development activities
-
Develop and maintain engineering documentation and configuration management artifacts
What We're Looking For
-
5+ years of FPGA development experience
-
Strong experience with VHDL and/or Verilog
-
Hands-on experience with Xilinx or Intel/Altera FPGA platforms
-
Experience with high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, or JESD204
-
Knowledge of FPGA design best practices, including timing closure, clock domain crossing, and reset synchronization
-
Experience using FPGA development tools such as Vivado, Quartus, and ModelSim
-
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
Preferred Experience
-
Aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industries
-
DO-254, MIL-STD, or regulated development environments
-
Scripting and automation experience using TCL, Python, or MATLAB
-
Embedded systems and hardware/software integration experience
Why Spectra?
-
Work on advanced technologies supporting critical aerospace and defense missions
-
Tackle complex technical challenges in a collaborative engineering environment
-
Contribute across the full product development lifecycle
-
Join a team committed to innovation, quality, and engineering excellence
