About The Program


The FPGA Design Engineer Apprenticeship Program is designed for graduates who aspire to build a career in FPGA development, digital hardware design, and semiconductor engineering.

Participants will gain hands-on exposure to FPGA design methodologies, RTL development, functional verification, synthesis, timing analysis, and hardware implementation using industry-standard tools.

Program Structure

The programme consists of 1 month of intensive technical training followed by 3 months of On-the-Job Training (OJT) with a semiconductor or technology company.


During the training phase at ASEM, Cyberjaya, you will gain practical exposure to:

  • FPGA architecture and digital design fundamentals
  • RTL design using Verilog HDL
  • Functional verification with SystemVerilog
  • FPGA synthesis and implementation flow
  • Timing analysis and design optimization
  • FPGA development tools and debugging techniques
  • Hardware validation and testing
  • FPGA-based mini project
  • Professional development and industry-readiness workshops

During the OJT phase , you will work alongside experienced engineers, applying your technical knowledge to real FPGA and digital hardware projects while gaining valuable industry experience.


Responsibilities

As an FPGA Design Engineer Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to industry-standard development workflows such as:

  • Assisting in RTL design and implementation using Verilog HDL
  • Supporting FPGA synthesis, implementation, and timing closure
  • Developing and executing functional verification test cases
  • Assisting in hardware debugging and validation activities
  • Supporting FPGA integration with embedded systems and peripherals
  • Performing simulation, waveform analysis, and design optimization
  • Preparing technical documentation and engineering reports
  • Participating in design reviews, technical discussions, and project meetings
  • Collaborating with hardware, firmware, and verification engineers


Who We're Looking For

• Fresh graduates or final-year students in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines

• Strong interest in processor architecture and semiconductor design

• Basic understanding of computer architecture concepts

• Curiosity about RISC-V and CPU development

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills

• Able to commit to the full training and OJT duration
