Role Summary – Hardware & Test Avionics Team Lead (FPGA Architect)
Location & Work Mode: On‑site required: Minimum 3 days per week
Location: Montréal, QC
Seeking a senior FPGA Architect to strengthen Hardware Development team for avionics programs in North America. The role focuses on end‑to‑end FPGA architecture, development, integration, and verification, supporting complex, safety‑critical avionics systems.
Close collaboration with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams and access to labs is essential
Key Responsibilities
Define and contribute to hardware and FPGA architectures in collaboration with system, board, and software teams
Lead FPGA development, integration, and verification activities
Produce and validate technical documentation and compliance artifacts in line with DO‑254
Ensure end‑to‑end traceability from requirements to verification and validation
Supervise and validate complex FPGA block design and implementation
Act as the technical interface between system/product engineering, hardware, software, and production
Drive continuous improvement of engineering practices
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers
Technical Skills & Experience:
Strong expertise in VHDL / Verilog
Hands‑on experience with FPGA/ASIC development and verification
Proficiency with FPGA platforms such as Xilinx, Altera, Microsemi
Solid understanding of FPGA technologies, power consumption, startup, and transient behavior
Knowledge of high‑speed buses, memory architectures, processing functions, and interfaces
Experience in UNIX/Linux environments
10–15 years of experience in the aerospace / avionics domain
Education & Certifications
Engineering degree in Electronics, Aerospace, Embedded Systems, or Computer Engineering
or Master’s / PhD in Embedded Electronics
Preferred:
DO‑254 / DO‑160 certification
Exposure to avionics products (civil/military computers, displays)
Programming skills in Python / C / C++
Language Requirement: French
