DSS Aerospace is seeking an experienced
Embedded Systems and Hardware Integration Engineer
to join our UAV engineering team in Turkey. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, integrating, and validating embedded hardware and avionics systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). You will work closely with flight control, avionics, software, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure reliable performance of drone systems in real-world operations.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and integrate embedded systems for fixed-wing, VTOL, and multirotor UAV platforms.

Develop embedded firmware using C/C++ for microcontrollers and embedded processors.

Integrate flight controllers such as
Pixhawk, CubePilot, CUAV
, and other autopilot hardware.
-
Interface and integrate UAV sensors including IMU, GNSS/GPS, magnetometers, barometers, airspeed sensors, LiDAR, radar, and payload cameras.

Configure and integrate communication systems including telemetry radios, RF modules, LTE/5G, and satellite communication systems.

Integrate payloads such as EO/IR cameras, gimbals, laser rangefinders, and mission-specific equipment.

Configure and optimize UAV flight stacks such as
PX4
and
ArduPilot
.

Develop communication interfaces using UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet, MAVLink, and DroneCAN.

Perform board bring-up, hardware debugging, firmware testing, and system validation.
-
Conduct Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL), bench testing, and flight testing.

Troubleshoot hardware, firmware, and integration issues during development and field operations.

Collaborate with avionics, AI, computer vision, navigation, and flight control teams to deliver fully integrated UAV systems.

Prepare technical documentation, integration procedures, and test reports.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

3+ years of experience in embedded systems development and hardware integration, preferably in UAV or robotics applications.

Strong programming skills in
C/C++
for embedded systems.

Hands-on experience with
STM32
, ARM Cortex-M, or similar microcontroller platforms.

Experience with
PX4
,
ArduPilot
, or other UAV autopilot systems.

Knowledge of embedded Linux and Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
-
Strong understanding of UAV avionics, power distribution systems, ESCs, motors, servos, and battery management systems.

Experience with communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet, MAVLink, and DroneCAN.

Proficiency in hardware debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and other electronic test equipment.

Familiarity with schematic interpretation and PCB design concepts.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience integrating NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi, or similar edge computing platforms.

Knowledge of ROS/ROS2 and autonomous robotic systems.

Experience with UAV payload integration, gimbal control, and mission systems.

Familiarity with RF communication systems, telemetry, and antenna integration.

Experience with Git version control and CI/CD workflows.
-
Knowledge of aviation standards and UAV certification processes is an advantage.
