Embedded Software Engineer
to support the Weapons Systems Development Division in assessing, testing, and qualification of in ordnance, weapons systems, and related systems for the Divisions System Safety Branch at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC)

Job Description
Support customers and sponsoring organizations in reviewing, testing, in establishing fielding requirements of existing and under development systems to present to the Navy’s Weapon System Explosive Safety Review Board (WESRB) for recommendation.
The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, leveraging their skills in computer science and software engineering.

Conduct Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Subsystem Hazard Analysis, System Hazard Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis

Debug, test, make recommendations to mature codebases to a production-ready level, and assign safety-critical indices to code segments
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-
Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, and zero (0) years or more of related experience.

Attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
-
Strong understanding of computer networks and systems, including embedded systems, microcontroller programing, and familiarity with networking and radio system protocols.

Proficient in Linux, Python, C/C++, Java, and other coding languages
-
Ability to meet physical health, personal responsibility, and safety requirements to obtain and maintain an explosive certification.

Hands-on experience working with microcontrollers, and data acquisition and analysis tools. I.e. Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, Power Supplies.

Must be proficient with computers and have experience with Microsoft suite of software tools (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).

Interim secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain DoD secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.

Candidate must be US Citizen
Desired Experience

Knowledge of complex mesh networks, advanced networks, wireless and radio (RF) communication, robotics, radio-controlled technology, and microcontrollers.

Ordnance System Safety and Weapon System Explosive Safety Review Board (WSESRB) processes and procedures.

Additional knowledge of User Experience (UX) &/or Graphical User Interface (GUI) design is preferred.

Project management experience in safety-critical and rapidly developed systems

Experience in rapidly developed and safety critical systems.
