Role Description
The Embedded Software Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA. In this position, the engineer will design, implement, and maintain embedded software for a range of hardware platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability. Daily responsibilities include writing and reviewing code, integrating software with hardware components, debugging and resolving issues, and optimizing system performance. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams such as hardware engineering, QA, and product management to define requirements, refine system architecture, and support deployment. The engineer will contribute to documentation, participate in code reviews, and help improve development processes and tools.

Candidates should possess expertise in software design, including modular architecture, real-time constraints, and resource-constrained systems.

Candidates should possess advanced debugging skills for embedded systems, including use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and firmware debugging tools.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience with C/C++ for embedded systems, RTOS or bare-metal development, and communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, CAN) is highly beneficial.

Familiarity with safety, security, or compliance standards relevant to embedded systems (e.g., MISRA, ISO, IEC) is a plus.

Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work on-site in cross-functional teams, and clear written and verbal communication abilities.
