Position:
Embedded Software Tools Engineer
Job Responsibilities
-
Support the development of tools and scripts to improve efficiency and user experience for John Deere's OpenRTOS-based embedded software development environment.

Develop, enhance, and maintain software tools used by embedded software engineers.

Provide daily technical support to internal users and collaborate with external stakeholders.

Lead innovation initiatives to define and improve the next generation of embedded software development tools used across the organization.
-
Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to streamline development workflows and improve productivity.
-
Contribute to the embedded software development lifecycle from requirements through machine validation.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or equivalent experience.

3+ years of experience in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as
C#, C++, or Java
.

Strong expertise in
C programming
and object-oriented software design.

Solid understanding of the embedded software development lifecycle, including requirements, implementation, testing, and machine validation.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with
GNU Make
and
Python
scripting.

Knowledge of
CAN (Controller Area Network)
and
UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services)
protocols.

Experience working in
Agile software development
environments.

Master's or other advanced degree in Computer Science or an Engineering discipline.
