Embedded Software Engineer

📍 Cambridge | Hybrid Working


We're working with an innovative engineering business developing advanced communications and networking technology used across highly regulated, mission critical environments.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an Embedded Software Engineer to their software team. This is an opportunity to work on complex embedded systems, developing software at the heart of cutting edge hardware platforms

.

The Role

  • Development of embedded Linux applications and platforms
  • Firmware development within RTOS and bare metal environments
  • Board bring up, debugging and system diagnostics
  • Designing communication protocols and networking interfaces
  • Working with TCP/IP, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART and other low level protocols
  • Developing secure communication methods and system hardening solutions
  • Collaborating closely with hardware, FPGA and systems engineering teams
  • Troubleshooting complex embedded software and networking challenges


What We're Looking For

  • Strong commercial experience developing embedded software in C/C++
  • Experience working with embedded Linux environments
  • Knowledge of RTOS development and/or bare metal programming
  • Hardware bring up and debugging experience
  • Understanding of networking protocols and communication interfaces
  • Strong problem solving skills and a passion for developing complex engineering solutions


Desirable experience includes:

  • Yocto Linux
  • Zephyr RTOS
  • ARM Cortex devices
  • Python
  • Linux kernel, bootloaders and device drivers
  • Secure networking and encryption technologies

Security Clearance Requirements
