We are partnering with a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer seeking an experienced
Senior Embedded Software Engineer
to support the development of mission-critical embedded software for next-generation aerospace systems.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex embedded software projects throughout the full product lifecycle, from requirements definition through design, development, verification, certification, and production support. The ideal candidate enjoys solving challenging technical problems while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for safety-critical aerospace applications.

Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, coding, integration, verification, validation, and sustaining engineering.

Translate customer and system requirements into software designs and maintain full requirements traceability.

Develop software that meets performance, reliability, quality, and certification objectives.

Perform software design reviews, code reviews, and technical documentation.

Troubleshoot software issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

Collaborate with systems, hardware, electrical, manufacturing, quality, and program teams throughout product development.

Support product verification, integration, and qualification testing.

Ensure compliance with aerospace software development standards and internal engineering processes.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering quality and development efficiency.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.

5+ years
of embedded software development experience.

Strong proficiency in
C/C++
for embedded systems.

Experience developing software for
safety-critical or highly regulated products
.

Working knowledge of
DO-178
software development processes.

Experience with embedded software requirements management, verification, and certification activities.

Familiarity with aerospace communication protocols such as:

ARINC 429
-
CAN
-
RS-232
-
AFDX (preferred)

Experience with embedded debugging, simulators, and emulators.

Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, SCADE, or similar model-based development tools.

Experience using structural code coverage and verification tools.

Knowledge of configuration management and requirements management systems.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.

Experience developing avionics or other airborne embedded software.

Knowledge of digital hardware interfaces and embedded system architecture.

Experience supporting certification activities for aerospace products.

Familiarity with scripting languages used to automate development or testing environments.
