Embedded Robotics Engineer (Remote, Full-Time)
Rex.zone is hiring Embedded Robotics Engineers to build production-grade software close to the hardware for real robots. You will develop firmware, device drivers, real-time control loops, and integrate robotics middleware (ROS/ROS 2) to deliver reliable sensor/actuator behavior, deterministic timing, and safe operation in the field.
What You Will Do
-
Develop embedded firmware and robotics software in C/C++ for MCUs and Linux-based compute modules
-
Build and maintain device drivers and hardware interfaces: CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO
-
Implement and tune real-time control loops (PID, feedforward), motion control, and safety interlocks
-
Integrate with ROS 2 nodes, topics, services, and lifecycle management for robust deployments
-
Improve autonomy performance with sensor fusion and state estimation (e.g., Kalman filtering) and timing analysis
-
Create automated tests (unit/integration/HIL) and maintain CI/CD for repeatable releases
-
Debug complex field issues using logs/traces, GDB/JTAG, and profiling; drive root-cause fixes
Required Qualifications
-
Mid-Senior experience delivering embedded systems or robotics software to production
-
Strong C/C++ and understanding of real-time systems (RTOS concepts or real-time Linux)
-
Proven sensor/actuator integration and driver-level debugging experience
-
Familiarity with ROS/ROS 2 workflows and robotics software architecture
-
Comfortable with Git and automated testing practices
Preferred
-
Experience with SLAM/localization, kinematics, calibration, simulation (Gazebo), and safety standards
