Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Systems & Protocol Engineer to join an innovative R&D project for a client in the energy industry. You will help build highly reliable edge systems for real-time, low-latency operations — designed to function without constant cloud connectivity. This role is ideal for hands-on engineers who enjoy working close to the hardware and network layers, creating fast, deterministic, and robust systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement efficient binary protocols over TCP
• Build and maintain deterministic state machines and runtime logic (Go)
• Develop components for fallback operations, event replay, and offline mode
• Ensure resilient execution on edge devices (no cloud dependency)
• Work with custom binary stream decoding, data compression, and telemetry
• Deploy and monitor distributed Linux-based systems using containers (Docker/Podman)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate with EVs, batteries, chargers, and grid APIs
  
  

Nice To Have

• Experience with ZeroMQ, protobuf, or disk-buffered logs
• Knowledge of power markets, smart grid protocols, or low-latency trading systems
• Familiarity with EV charging APIs, batteries, or energy devices
• Experience with TimescaleDB or other time-series databases
• Ability to write scripting/integration logic in Python when needed
  
  

Profile / Requirements

• Strong experience in Go (or Rust/C for low-level logic)
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP protocols, binary formats, and real-time processing
• Experience building mission-critical Linux systems
• Familiarity with Docker or Podman, edge deployment, system observability
• Ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code
• Fluent English (spoken and written)
• Must be located in Poland
• Must have an active sole proprietorship (jednoosobowa działalność gospodarcza) registered in Poland
