We are seeking a highly skilled and mission-driven Embedded Design Engineer to join our engineering team at Ironclad. In this role, you will be a key architect in developing the next generation of advanced counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) and anti-drone technology. You will design, develop, and test the safety-critical firmware and real-time low-level software that powers our specialized detection, tracking, and interdiction systems. Bridging the gap between sophisticated RF/sensor hardware and real-time control applications, your work will directly protect airspace, critical infrastructure, and personnel from hostile aerial threats.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of professional experience in embedded software or firmware design, preferably working on UAVs, robotics, autonomous systems, or defence technologies.
Technical Skills
• Programming Mastery: Advanced proficiency in C and C++, with strong expertise in memory optimization, multi-threading, and hardware-level bitwise operations.
• Architecture & OS Expertise: Deep experience working with ARM Cortex-M/R microcontrollers or FPGAs. Strong background building on RTOS platforms (FreeRTOS, Zephyr) and writing custom Embedded Linux device trees or drivers.
• Protocol & Sensor Knowledge: Hands-on mastery of communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN bus, Ethernet). Prior exposure to GPS-denied navigation, RF spectrum sensing, or motor control communication is highly advantageous.
• Lab & Diagnostic Equipment: Expert proficiency with physical debugging equipment, including logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG debuggers, and basic RF testing equipment.
• Development Ecosystem: Strong familiarity with Git version control, CI/CD pipelines for hardware, and script-based test automation in Python.
Soft Skills & Competencies
• Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills to isolate unpredictable hardware-software bugs in high-stress operational or test environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical complexities across cross-functional engineering borders.
