Embedded/Application Software Engineer (2 reqs open)

Must-haves

Primary language: Go, Rust, or C++ (not C as primary)

Embedded Linux background

If candidate's background is C, they need C++ as well (C alone isn't enough)

Nice-to-have, Not Required

Yocto/embedded build system experience is a plus but not mandatory

Why this filter matters: team works at the application layer, not kernel/OS/drivers, so candidates whose only strength is low-level kernel/OS/driver work are a mismatch even if their resumes look strong.

Seniority Split Across The 2 Reqs

One req: senior — targeting 7-8 years (sweet spot), 8 is ideal

Other req: entry-level to somewhat senior — as low as 4 years is fine

Industry note: charging-company candidates have not worked out; EV/trading-adjacent in North America is weak

Good signal: energy companies — Anaplan(?)/Generac and similar; aerospace/similar architecture companies also translate well

Soft filter: Communication and the ability to break down technical concepts clearly is a key criterion — weak communicators won't move forward regardless of technical background.
